Learning Services and Academic Advising

Our learning services team equips students with the support they need to thrive in their classes, labs, and assignments.  The goal of the team is to create success for the entire King’s community as life-long learners.

Learning Specialist

Our learning specialist is available to provide and direct specialized student support. The specialist will work with students individually or in groups to help identify ways students may improve academically. As students learn to adjust to university life, students will be provided tools and resources to help them succeed through their academic endeavors. Navigating and being mindful of the unique skills and challenges that may be faced by mature students, students with disabilities, Indigenous students, international students, and ESL students is also of importance to the available learning specialist.

Group Tutoring

Group tutoring is offered by the Biology, Chemistry, and Math departments. Work through assignments or specific problems with the help of your peers and instructors. Contact your instructor for details.

Book A Support Session

During a writing support session, students will receive help with writing assignments (e.g., essays, research papers, etc.) at any stage of the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, revising, and final editing. Students should bring the assignment instructions, current draft, or any notes or brainstorming to the appointment.

During an academic support session, students can receive tailored guidance in academic tools and resources, including organization and note-taking skills, time management, and study strategies.

When booking, students can let the learning specialist know what academic skill or area the appointment should focus on in the “Notes” section of the booking form.
