King’s Encounter Weekend
Hey Future King’s Students!
If you didn’t know King’s Encounter Weekend is quickly approaching and you can still sign up! Never heard of King’s Encounter Weekend before? It’s a time where prospective students, like yourself, can spend an entire weekend here on King’s campus living the university student life. You’ll get the opportunity to stay in residence, attend classes, and ask current students and professors any questions you may have. Along with this you get the opportunity to meet other perspective students and make new friends! This year King’s Encounter Weekend is happening March 21-23, 2019 so make sure to sign up as soon as possible. If you’re still unsure about attending, I chatted with Ethan Soltys, a 1st year PHE student, to ask him about his experience at a King’s Encounter Weekend. Here’s what he had to say:
Did the King's Encounter Weekend influence your decision to come to King's? Why?
Yes, I had initially met Wanda Theissen at a career fair at a local high school where she told me about this great place called The King’s University. The community sounded too good to be true so Wanda informed me about the KEW. Three weeks later I was standing on the King’s doorstep. After a packed weekend of getting to experience being a King’s student I knew that King’s was the place for me. The community that I experienced and the people I met made me feel like I was already part of the family.
What advice would you give to perspective students wanting to come to a King's Encounter Weekend?
Just do it! If you’re even a little bit hesitant about whether King’s is the place for you there is no harm in coming to experience the community and what it is like to be a King’s Student for a weekend. King’s is more than an educational institution; it is a community and makes everyone that walks through its doors a part of that community. You should come experience what King’s has to offer, even if it is just for a weekend.
What was your favourite part of King's Encounter Weekend?
King’s really prides itself on the community and justly so. Even though myself and the others that were there were only here for the weekend, the community truly made us feel welcome.
If this is something you’re interested in make sure to register early. If you can’t make it to this weekend but are still interested in learning more about what King’s has to offer there are plenty of other events you can attend. Just check out our Visit King’s webpage.
Till Next Time,
Kayla
