Internships
King’s students have the opportunity to do a three or six-month internship with an organization that seeks to address issues of injustice, poverty, and reconciliation. Students gain first-hand experience alongside those working to transform their communities locally and globally. Students also benefit from the guidance of The Micah Centre and other community partners during their internship.
Students may receive academic credit (social science/SSCI) for their internship. Here are a few of the internships that students have participated in through The Micah Centre:
Hope Mission
The Hope Mission Internship Program provides a hands-on, interactive learning experience for young adults, students, and post-grads seeking experience working in the inner city and the non-profit sector. Interns will gain valuable career skills, increased knowledge, professional contacts, and leadership skills while having a lot of fun!
Each internship runs for three months with options of staying up to six or 12 months. Interns are provided with housing if required, a monthly stipend of up to $400, bursary for interns who are returning to post-secondary school, and a monthly bus pass. The Mustard Seed

The Mustard Seed is a Christian not-for-profit organization that delivers basic services, including six evening meals per week, clothing, and personal items to those living in poverty. Youth Challenge International
Youth Challenge International is a non-profit youth development and educational institution with the mission to build the skills, experience, and confidence of young people to effect positive change in their communities. YCI involves Canadian youth in hands-on projects in developing countries to address local development issues. Projects last for five to 10 weeks. Participants are required to pay a fee to help cover the costs of projects.
Families Living Well Society
The Serving Communities Internship Program (SCiP) builds stronger communities and leaders in Alberta through internships for post-secondary students in nonprofit/voluntary sector organizations. SCiP is a program of Volunteer Alberta and is funded by the Government of Alberta.
